About Makoto Hoshina
Makoto "SEIJO"Hoshina (1924 to 2018) was a Japanese painter, born in Date-shi, Hokkaido Japan. He started painting after he retired and studied at Musashino Art University at age 66. He became vice president at the Modern Japanese Art Association (KIndai Bijutsu) and served from 1990 to 2000. His focus was Representational Painting with ink and natural pigments which are commonly used for Japanese traditional painting. His subjects were flowers, birds, trees and forests.
